Training Schedule

Online Instruction

Students receive both online and in-person training. Online classes are live and generally held on the weekends so working students can attend.

Each online class is recorded for students who cannot attend at the scheduled time. Students must complete a short assignment if they miss a live session.

In-Person Training Retreats

The training program meets for two weeks twice a year in Ann Arbor at the beginning and end of each summer. At least 12 personal Functional Integration (FI) lessons from our training program instructors will be delivered during the live segments over the course of the 4 year program. Before the first live segment, you will receive login information with instructions for our FI scheduling. Often the day before and after the in-person live segments, extra FI lessons will also be available. Some members of our educational staff offer these extra FI lessons at an additional cost.

The first day of in-person training starts at 3:30 pm and ends at 9:00 pm (ET) with a 45-minute dinner break. The last day of each in-person segment will be from 9:00am-2:30pm (ET), including a 45 minute lunch break. All other days of the in-person segments are from 12:00pm-6:30pm (ET), including a 90 minute lunch break from roughly 2:30 - 4:00pm (ET). Luggage storage is available if needed on days when you are arriving and departing.

Students have Saturdays off in the middle of the live training retreat. The break day can be used to get to know your classmates/future colleagues.

Payments

The FIAA financial department will send invoices when an application fee, deposit, or tuition payment is due. The invoices will have a payment link for both PayPal and Stripe for credit cards. Once an invoice is paid, it will prompt a student to set up a portal, so they can see their own financial records.

Graduates must apply to the FGNA for certification, and renew certification annually, in order to practice. Professional practice may be subject to additional federal, state or local government requirements. Neither Awareness Through Movement® lessons nor Functional Integration® sessions may be offered professionally before graduation from an accredited training program. Interim authorization as a Trainee Awareness Through Movement teacher is a student teaching position.
